The Roots Nursery
This new Pacific Northwest company is all about growing. They believe in the preservation and prosperity of their community and environment. This company was built during Covid season. The long term plan is to sell collectible mugs that donate 100% of the profits to a non-profit partner through a co-branded experience. They want to create partnerships to positively impact the community and the world at large. The website states that their products are more than just houseplants. They want to help you grow your space with their products.

Their website is simple, and to the point. They offer 7 different plants and all of them come in a 13 oz mug with their logo on it. If you are looking for exotic plants, this is not your site. The plants that they sell are all very good for beginner plant parents. Their site also offers a Lifestyle Blog where they post about once a week. Topics include “The Self,” “The Community,” and “The Environment.” Celebrating equality, inclusivity, restoration, open-mindedness, thoughtfulness and sustainability. The pricing on the site is a bit confusing, at first glance. When you choose the plant that you want, you have the option to “Complete the Collection”, and choose a crystal of your choice, but it does not tell you that the crystal is going to add to your total. It makes it seem like the crystal comes WITH the plant, but in fact, if you choose “none” under the crystal drop down, your price will be cheaper in the end.

While the site does not offer care tips, a Care Instructions card comes with your plant! The card states how much sunlight and water the plant needs. It also includes a Plant MD Symptom Checker, which can be very helpful for new plant parents. You cannot buy a plant without it coming in a mug. The mug is pretty awesome and high quality, but I think an option to buy just the plant would also be nice.

The shipping was extremely fast from this company. I ordered and received my plant within 3 business days. BUT, the packaging was not the best. The dirt had not been secured into the pot and therefore was all over inside the box when it arrived. I would rather have waited longer for the shipping, and not had a mess on my hands when I received my package.

I ordered a Spider Plant in a 13oz Camper Mug with a Selenite Tower. On this site, they also sell crystals, which is all the rage, recently. Their crystals are super high quality and come in an awesome little burlap gift sack. The Spider Plant that I received was too large for the box it was shipped in and seemed a bit damaged. The leaves were long and had been bent to fit into the bag and box. What is awesome about this company is that they have a 30 Day Grow Zone Guarantee. I contacted the shop, and they sent me another spider plant, free of charge, no questions asked! The second plant also came very quickly. This Spider Plant was very different than the first, it was smaller and the leaves were much shorter, which made the damage less, in the same size box.

If you want to support a fun, new, PNW small business, this company is going to be your jam. The plants that they sell are perfect for new plant parents, as they are all easy to maintain and come in a great size. This company is trying to make a positive impact in your life by supporting local artisans, non-profits, writing on their inclusive blog, and selling house plants to help you grow your own space.
